weeeeell, i finally downloaded the pix from Richmond, so i thought i’d share... they’re mostly of Hollywood Cemetery. i was fascinated by the primitive monolith/pyramid memorial to the Civil War soldiers (hint: those buried at Hollywood Cemetery were Confederate. 18,000 of them.).
the lovely James River, which we did not get any closer to for fear of the dreaded WET FEET.
these people brave the horrific effects of WET FEET.
the looming monolith...
sure, it looks nice enough... but then --
it spots us and turns menacingly!
heh, heh, it said ‘erected.’ there were some other inscriptions, but they were in Latin or something.
a headstone from the cemetery. you know what they say about two Wongs...
Jewish Confederate soldiers. it had never even occurred to me before.
on the way home, we passed Bill’s. those little pigs on the sign look soooo happy!
